Lafayette, Colorado Couples Therapist
Hi, I’m Taylor. I help people couples repair negative cycles of conflict, heal from past ruptures and betrayals including infidelity and work through life transitions. Relationships are mighty vehicles for growth, meaning and evolution, but they also evoke our deepest wounds, fears and insecurities. I am here to be your guide through the tender places in your relationship where you just get stuck.
I practice from the lens of Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy, a highly renowned and researched modality developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. Together we will look at the cycle of negative interaction that partners get into over and over again. Neither partner is viewed as “the problem.” Instead, I take the stance that deeper longings and unmet emotional needs drive the negative cycle, and as we uncover them, we build a new foundation where greater understanding and compassion for one another can emerge.
Conflict doesn’t have to drive you apart. Your relationship can be a place of safety, stability and intimacy amidst the stressors of life. Let’s stop the cycle together!

The first few sessions will focus on getting to know your relationship’s history and what brings you in as well as learning more about your and your partner’s past experiences of attachment, intimacy and closeness. As we work together, we will map out the cycle of disconnection that arises between you, interrupt the cycle as it shows up in session and practice new ways of sharing feelings and needs that allow your partner to hear you and respond.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach that helps couples break free from harmful cycles of conflict. EFT is an experiential model and rather than solely focusing on developing communication skills or problem solving, it focuses on creating new experiences of safety, connection and responsiveness in session. EFT takes the stance that most arguments are not just about the surface level details, but about deeper longings and unmet attachment needs. If you would like to get a taste of what Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy is like, I recommend reading Hold Me Tight by Dr. Sue Johnson.

I am considered an out of network mental health provider.
I am happy to provide a superbill for you to send to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company about your out of network benefits, as many plans cover a portion of the session cost.
Why work with an out of network provider?
Working outside the bounds of insurance allows me to focus on what is best for you, not what is best for insurance companies. No required diagnoses, no surprise billing issues or lapses in care and no limitations to the number of sessions. I can fully protect your confidentiality without needing share diagnoses or treatment plans with insurance companies and the time that would otherwise be spent managing insurance claims gets reinvested directly back into focusing on your care.
